Data warehouse firm Snowflake reports bigger loss in first post-IPO quarterly report

(Reuters) — Warren Buffett-backed data warehouse firm Snowflake reported a bigger third-quarter loss on Wednesday, in its first quarterly results following a blockbuster market debut in September, sending its shares more than 5% lower after the bell.

The San Mateo, California-based company, which has 3,554 customers, raised $3.36 billion in its initial public offering after it was priced above the target range in the biggest U.S. listing so far this year.

Snowflake said product revenue, or sales from services on its platform, more than doubled to $148.5 million, accounting for 93% of total revenue in the quarter.

Founded in 2012 in San Francisco, Snowflake sells a cloud data platform which offers to consolidate a business’ data onto one platform. Cloud-based business services have seen rapid growth this year as offices around the world adapted to working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Net loss for the quarter ended Oct.

SpaceX is paying billions to build its Starlink space internet terminals, report suggests

© Provided by The Independent

SpaceX is reportedly outsourcing a key component of its Starlink satellite-internet business at a cost of billions of dollars.

STMicroelectronics, a Swiss manufacturing giant, will be paid $2.4 billion to build one million Starlink user terminals, according to Business Insider.

The terminal, which CEO Elon Musk has previously referred to as a “UFO on a stick” contains a phased-array antenna, which allows it to communicate with Starlink’s satellites.

In a beta test, SpaceX is charging $100 a month for internet service and $500 for a starter kit that includes a tripod, a wireless router, and a user terminal – and new information suggests that SpaceX may be paying $2,000 on each terminal.

“The production agreement specifies 1 million terminals at a price of roughly $2,400 each,” the source, who apparently has knowledge of the contract between STMicroelectronics and SpaceX, told Business Insider.

U.S. To Add Chinese Oil Driller To List Of Firms Barred From Receiving American Investments: Report

The Trump administration is set to add major Chinese offshore oil and gas producer CNOOC, plus three other large Chinese firms, to a list of companies barred from receiving American investments because of their alleged ties to China’s military, according to a report by Reuters that cited documents and three officials.

CNOOC — short for China National Offshore Oil Corporation — is China’s third-largest oil and gas company and its main offshore explorer, having brought in more than $30 billion in revenue in 2019.

Its inclusion on the blacklist caused its Hong Kong-listed shares to tumble 14% on Monday. Not only are US investors responsible for a large chunk of the company’s more than $360 billion in value on the Hong

Analysts Estimate Coupa Software. (COUP) to Report a Decline in Earnings: What to Look Out for

Coupa Software. (COUP) is expected to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended October 2020. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company’s earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price.

The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on December 7. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management’s discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it’s worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus Estimate

This company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.04 per share in its upcoming report,
