How spatial technology is revolutionising planning, construction and development

Every long-standing homeowner has had the experience of waiting for tradesmen to appear on time for a measure and quote.

Well, what if in the future, you could take a video with your phone and tradesmen could accurately design and cost a solution in 3D without stepping a foot onto your property?

Wait no more.

To go with DJI’s recent LiDAR carrying drone, the latest iPhone 12 now includes a depth-scanning LiDAR sensor. This puts into everyday hands the ability to capture an accurate and measurable 3D model of what stands before you.

You may have seen Apple’s keynote, but imagine you could capture the rooms in your home as simply as capturing a video. In full 3D.

Since the LiDAR-equipped iPads and iPhones have debuted, a handful of apps have emerged offering 3D scanning and augmented reality that can blend meshed-out maps of spaces with virtual objects

The Value Of Synchronized Planning With Contract Manufacturers

By David Vallejo, SAP

In a previous story, I explored the advantages of synchronized planning for supply chain resilience in an age of disruption. The basic theme in that blog was one of digitally enabled planning processes that support the insight, collaboration, and supply chain agility needed to synchronize plans across long-term, mid-term, and short-term time horizons. Contract manufacturing is different

One relevant question is: What about contract manufacturing? How does synchronized planning apply to companies that outsource their manufacturing?

Take for instance, the high-tech industry. Most companies that make computers and other high-tech devices are essentially design and brand owners who work with oversees partners to build the products they sell. For these companies, their relationship to execution

Why Russia Is Planning New Curbs On U.S. Social Media Companies

New legislation planned in Russia takes aim at YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. One lawmaker behind the proposal, Anton Gorelkin, accuses the social media giants of “blatant discrimination” against Russian media, according to comments reported by TASS.

The proposed law is an attempt to hit back at measures which social media platforms introduced earlier this year. Those measures saw some media organizations—including some in Russia—labeled as “government” or “state” affiliated.

The Russian parliamentarians behind the bill are mostly members of “United Russia,” the country’s biggest political party, characterized mainly by its staunch support for the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. As Reuters reported, the lawmakers say that they have received complaints from Russian media organizations now subject to new labels,
