Pigment raises $25.9 million to ‘reboot the spreadsheet’ with next-gen business forecasting

Pigment, which is setting out to “reboot the spreadsheet” and give businesses a “multidimensional view” of their data with its platform, has raised $25.9 million in a series A round of funding led by Blossom Capital.

Founded out of Paris in 2019, Pigment touts itself as a business forecasting platform that circumvents the limitations of “error-prone” spreadsheets and inflexible software to bring a “new standard” to planning and modeling. The platform is still in closed beta, though the company claims to have secured some undisclosed high-profile clients, including a major European bank and pre-IPO startups.

Pigment’s founding team includes co-CEOs Eléonore Crespo, a former financial analyst at Google who later joined Index Ventures as an investor, and Romain Niccoli, cofounder and former CTO of advertising tech giant Criteo.

Pigment is entering a space occupied by some long-standing incumbents, including Anaplan, Workday (which acquired Adaptive Insights in 2018), and trusty

Altair offers next-gen, simulation-driven design technology

Troy, Mich. — Altair, a suburban Detroit company specializing in product development software, has launched a new product that simulates injection molding.

The company says Altair Inspire Mold gives product design engineers unrivaled problem solving tools and opportunities to make better design decisions earlier, reduce costs, speed time-to-market, and optimize the quality and manufacturability of finished parts.

“Inspire Mold embodies everything we believe simulation should be. It puts designers and engineers firmly in control of faster, more intelligent, and intuitive evaluation of injection molded plastic parts,” James Dagg, Altair’s chief technical officer, said in a news release. “Inspire Mold reduces the costs and delays traditionally found in the slow and laborious processing of design iterations, as well as the building and reworking of prototype molds.”

The manufacturability of new components can be evaluated at the outset of the development process, and the risk of defects — such as warping, sink

SpaceX could send next-gen Starship rocket on its first big flight next week

Starship could get much closer to Mars than it’s ever been by the end of this month, but even if it succeeds it will still have a long way to go.

Elon Musk and SpaceX have continued to improve the company’s next-generation rocket intended to eventually transport thousands of Earthlings to Mars, the moon and other destinations. Over the past 18 months, a handful of short test flights, or “hops,” have seen a few prototypes lift off a pad in Texas, rise to an elevation of about 500 feet (150 meters) and then come back down for a soft landing.

Indra will work together with French company Thales and German industry consortium FCMS to design and develop the “connected and distributed architecture of sensors” to provide situational awareness, and boost platform survivability, the company said in a release.

The contract details a one-year period for the team to design the sensor packages as part of the larger program’s Phase 1A concept study, and could be extended for an additional six months. Phase 1A was launched this past February and

NBA 2K21 Has A Major Update Headed For Next-Gen

NBA 2K21 on next-gen is already a candidate for Game of the Year in my book, but it appears a major update is on the way that is designed to enhance the already stellar visuals.

Per the game’s executive producer Erick Boenisch, the development of the current and next-gen versions of NBA 2K21 were impacted by the pandemic. One of the biggest issues they had was gaining access to the players as 2K wasn’t allowed inside the Bubble doing the NBA restart.

That said, Boenisch says in the video below, the 2K team has already scanned more than 40 players who should be added to the game in an update scheduled to arrive soon.

I tried to get a list of the players, but that wasn’t available at this time. However, I was told that 2K is having to be extremely creative in efforts to
