Cloud-native benefits stifled by critical security and networking issues

While most organizations today are using cloud-native apps, Kubernetes and microservices, they struggle to secure and connect the complex environments resulting from them, a Volterra survey reveals.

cloud-native apps

Securing cloud-native apps

Respondents indicated that cloud-native apps and Kubernetes deployments are particularly difficult to secure and connect because of the growing number of APIs and microservices they incorporate, which make them more distributed and harder to protect.

“Cloud-native is no longer just a bold new idea for most organizations, it’s a reality. Enterprises have increasingly adopted cloud-native apps over the past couple years to achieve faster development cycles, greater scalability and less vendor lock-in. But their DevOps and NetOps teams are facing some serious security and networking hurdles they just didn’t anticipate,” said Mark Weiner, CMO, Volterra.

“Cloud-native apps rely heavily on a microservices architecture and use far more APIs than traditional monolithic apps, including deeply embedded and hidden APIs. This increase

In 2020, the promise of 5G networking is continuing to lead conversations across the wireless industry. As 5G deployments increase, there will also be a rise in complementary technologies that offer low-power flexibility, cost-effective power, and low-bandwidth options for massive Internet of Things (IoT) deployments. These solutions complement the strengths of 5G and provide a broader set of tools to support different use cases.

It’s become clear that as 4G and 5G target low-latency and high-throughput applications. A larger portion of the massive IoT space will be led by mobile operators, as well as unlicensed spectrum operators and enterprises across private rollouts.

With LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN protocol, businesses and individuals can benefit from an IoT solution that’s flexible, cost-effective, easy to implement, and one that offers long range

Driving the new reality in education with networking solutions from Aruba

There is currently a new dynamic with the way students learn. Adjusting to the new reality of distance learning or staggered classrooms comes with a number of challenges.

One of these is the ability to leverage a good network that can adjust and grow with the changing education environment.

“How do we enable a hybrid instructional environment where some students may learn from home, but others arriving at school or on campus and either attending classes or dialing in remotely from on-campus student housing?” asked Warren Gordon, Business Unit Manager at Duxbury Networking – distributors of Aruba technology.

“How do we foster a new educational culture when the experience shifts to this new model? And the role of the network infrastructure as school and university design once again evolves to accommodate this new normal.”

“One thing is clear—connectivity, and the technologies that support it, will be even more important in
