Beware! Criminal Networks Likely to Sell Fake Coronavirus Vaccines on Internet, Interpol Issues Global Alert

Coronavirus Vaccine Latest Update: At a time when a number of companies are busy developing coronavirus vaccine for the deadly virus, the Interpol on Thursday warned law enforcement agencies across the globe that organised criminal networks could try to advertise and sell fake COVID-19 vaccines physically and on the internet.

Issuing an orange alert to all 194 member countries, the Lyon-based international police cooperation body warned agencies to prepare for potential criminal activity in relation to “the falsification, theft and illegal advertising of COVID-19 and flu vaccines”.

“It also includes examples of crimes where individuals have been advertising, selling and administering fake vaccines,” a statement from the Interpol said.

In just the last two months, the cybercriminal-controlled botnet known as TrickBot has become, by some measures, public enemy number one for the cybersecurity community. It’s survived takedown attempts by Microsoft, a supergroup of security firms, and even US Cyber Command. Now it appears the hackers behind TrickBot are trying a new technique to infect the deepest recesses of infected machines, reaching beyond their operating systems and into their firmware.

Security firms AdvIntel and Eclypsium today revealed that they’ve spotted a new component of the trojan that TrickBot hackers use to infect machines. HDFC Bank failed transactions: Reserve Bank of India  (RBI) has issued an Order dated  December  2, 2020 to HDFC Bank Limited with  regard  to certain incidents of outages in the internet banking / mobile banking / payment utilities of the Bank over the past 2 years, including the recent outages in the Bank’s internet banking and payment system on November 21, 2020 due to a power  failure in the primary data  centre.  

The  RBI  vide  said  Order  has  advised  the  Bank  to  temporarily  stop

i)  all  launches  of  the  Digital  Business  generating activities planned under its program ?Digital 2.0 (to be launched) and other proposed business generating  IT  applications

(ii)  sourcing  of  new  credit  card  customers.  In  addition,  the  Order  states  that  the  Bank’s  Board  examines the lapses and fixes accountability.

The CIA has set wannabe detectives a challenge, much to the excitement of social media users.

The intelligence agency posted a picture of a winter scene on Twitter on Tuesday and asked the internet to work out what time of day it was taken.

The picture showed a snowy street lined with cars, two school buses and a ski lodge, and participants were asked to “put their analysis skills to the test”.

Many amateur sleuths guessed the correct answer – 7am- by analysing the shadows of trees and the tracks in the snow.

Google AI is now piloting Loon’s internet-beaming balloons

Alphabet’s Loon has shifted to a different type of navigation system for its internet-beaming balloons. Rather than relying on algorithms designed by humans, the balloons are using an artificial intelligence system Loon developed with Google AI over the last few years.

A reinforcement learning (RL) system is now in charge of navigation for a fleet of balloons over Kenya, where Loon switched on its first commercial service earlier this year. Loon says this is the first use of an RL model in “a production aerospace system.” It also noted the “development is exciting because it shows that reinforcement learning can be applied to real-world use cases.” RL systems have previously figured out how to beat top Go and Dota 2 players.
