Wearing Ocean Plastic On Your Face And Keeping Some In Your Pocket (Or Purse)

Two organizations that focus on cleaning up ocean plastic are hawking goods. The goods are made from ocean plastic, so that’s a … good thing. And potentially a clever gift for someone (or yourself).

You know the deal: Before it’s Halloween it’s already Christmas, and time for seasonal shopping. The folks at 4ocean, who have been selling bracelets to fund ocean cleanups around the world, recently introduced an iPhone case made from certified, recovered ocean plastic.

The folks at The Ocean Cleanup, who have weathered storms while trying to tackle the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (understandably, it’s an ambitious project) also are now selling their first product: sunglasses made from harvested plastic. Proceeds from both sales will go to further the groups’ causes. Be sure to mention that if you give them as gifts (or sport them

US gives Qualcomm approval to sell 4G chips to Huawei despite sanctions

Qualcomm has received permission from the US to sell 4G mobile chips to Huawei, an exemption to the Trump administration’s ban on doing business with the Chinese company, Reuters reported. Qualcomm didn’t specify which products it’s allowed to sell to Huawei, but told Reuters they were related to mobile devices.

In May 2019, the White House issued an executive order barring US companies from doing business with Chinese companies like Huawei due to national security concerns. In May of this year, the Commerce Department tightened the restrictions to require any overseas semiconductor manufacturers to get a license from the US if they used US equipment or technology to make chips for Huawei. And effective in September, the US began requiring foreign semiconductor manufacturers to get a license to sell chips —even if not designed for Huawei specs— that are intended for the

YouTube pulls interview with Alex Jones after banned Infowars publisher makes ‘firing squad’ remark

YouTube yanked a video featuring right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from its platform Friday over a comment the controversial Infowars publisher made about Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

Mr. Jones has been prohibited from uploading his own content to YouTube for more than two years, although he has side-stepped that soft ban in part by appearing on channels operated by other users.

He recently spoke for hours with internet personality Tim Pool, who posted a video of their discussion to his YouTube channel Thursday before it was removed from the platform shortly afterward.

YouTube said the video was found to have violated its rules because of a remark Mr. Jones made about Mr. Gates — a frequent subject of the fringe theories he promotes — and wanting people killed.

Mr. Jones, meanwhile, claimed his comment was misinterpreted and argued Mr. Pool was “stampeded” by YouTube.

The remark occurred during part of

Amazon filed a lawsuit against 2 influencers accusing them of knowingly hawking counterfeit products on their social media accounts

  • Amazon filed a lawsuit Thursday against two influencers who it says promoted counterfeit products on their social media accounts.
  • Kelly Fitzpatrick and Sabrina Kelly-Krejci, the influencers named in the suit, are being accused of working with 11 other individuals or businesses to list and promote fake luxury items sold on Amazon in what Amazon describes as an “order this/get this” scheme.
  • According to the suit, Fitzpatrick and Kelly-Krejci would promote an Amazon listing for a seemingly generic item, which was in fact a designer imitation. The fake listings were an effort to dupe Amazon’s counterfeit detection tools, Amazon says.
  • Amazon has been waging war against counterfeit products on its platform for several years, recently launching a Counterfeit Crimes Unit to help investigate and bring legal action against knock-off items on its platform.

Twitch viewers can bet their channel points on predictions

Twitch has introduced a new feature called Predictions for creators who want to encourage viewer participation on their channels. Predictions allow creators set events wherein viewers can use their Channel Points to predict an outcome. For instance, the host can broadcast a pizza-eating challenge with a prediction asking viewers if they think they can finish a table-sized pizza in 15 minutes. Viewers can then bet their Channel Points on either of the two possible outcomes the host typed in — say, “Yes” and “Definitely not” — and win a proportionate share of Channel Points from the total pool.

Users can earn Channel Points on the platform by watching, following and subscribing to channels. They can then use those points to unlock features, such as the use of certain emotes or the ability to highlight their messages in chat. While the points have no monetary value, viewers in Denmark, Luxembourg,

Pokemon Go Has Made It A Little Easier To Get Mega Energy

Mega Evolutions finally made their debut in Pokemon Go back in August, and since then, developer Niantic has been fine-tuning the feature to make it easier for more players to enjoy. Last month, the studio outlined a slate of changes it planned to implement soon, and now some of those adjustments have gone live in the game.

Most notably, you can now earn Mega Energy by walking with a Buddy Pokemon, provided you’ve previously Mega-Evolved a Pokemon in your Buddy’s evolutionary line. Before this, the only way to obtain Mega Energy was either by participating in Mega Raid Battles or completing certain Research tasks, so this change gives you a handy new option for collecting the energy.

That isn’t the only change that has been implemented. Players can now also earn extra Candy when they have an active Mega-Evolved Pokemon and catch another monster of the same type. You can
